HI! I’m Renee - a mid-30s animation industry goof who currently lives in Vancouver, BC that likes cats, music, woo-woo bullshit, anime trash boys and trash men, elves, fantasy and yelling about all of it.
I am a salty old goth with a lot of opinions about everything.

Why Should I Follow You?

Do you like Critically Acclaimed MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV with the Free Trial up to Level 60 70 and the Heavensward Stormblood Expansion? How about Netflix’s The Dragon Prince? Or cool spooky Halloween-themed shit year-round? Or maybe lefty yelling about the state of the world? If you do, you’re in the right place.

My primary hobby as of right now is Final Fantasy XIV. My main is E'met Selch @ Coeurl (yes, I am that catboy emet who is on Crystal daily and I am very invested in him). I draw FFXIV related stuff occasionally!

I am also semi-active in The Dragon Prince fandom… I was more active in 2019-2020 and established a small following then, but TDP isn’t my main fandom anymore. Still like it though! Will probably reblog stuff about it with some regularity.

I have a cat named Merlin, he is very fat and very cute. There will be pics of him.

For all those in the notes - peregrine falcons hunt by dive-bombing their prey; this falcon however is currently stationary and cannot dive-bomb much of anything. In this moment, the pigeon is safe. The falcon however may not recover from the embarrassment.

By “diseases,” they mean microbes (MICROBES, not the same as PATHOGENS), that were living their merry lives in water when it began to freeze over.

Yes, we are going to be okay, at least as far as these little friends are concerned. The odds of a microbe that evolved in an aquatic environment THOUSANDS of years ago suddenly up and adapting to infect a human system as soon as it’s thawed are basically zilch. (The megaviridae [big ass viruses] that are the actual subject of the above clickbait infected ancient amoeba. It would take a TREMENDOUS amount of time and selection pressure for these viruses to learn to infect human systems, even by viral time scales.)

You SHOULD be worried about deforestation, especially in rain forests, which has the potential to release microbes that are more than adapted to mammalian systems and are generally happy to make a zoonotic (animal to human) jump, especially those that primarily infect simians. The major hemorrhagic fevers (Ebola, Marburg) were more than likely first exposed to humans after major deforestation.
